Benefits of Pet Doors

Some people do not think pet doors offer more than one purpose, but in fact pet doors offer a variety of benefits for you and your pets.

  • Florida’s summers are hot, long, and very humid. In a dog friendly Miami home, people without pet doors usually leave their doors (or windows) at least partially open to let their pets in and out when needed. The problem with that is, you are literally throwing money out the door in energy costs, and mosquitoes will find their way in easily. That will not be the case if you have an energy-efficient pet door like ours.
  • Pet doors offer freedom for you and your pet accoring to How many times do you get up during the day or night to let your pet in and out? Is that tiring? With a pet door you no longer have to be your pet’s doorman (or door woman). The constant up, down, back and forth takes time and effort. This is especially true on Saturday or Sunday mornings when you want to sleep in.
  • Another notable benefit, and equally as important, is pet doors allow your pets to go do their ‘business’ whenever nature calls. The average working person spends approximately 9 hours and 45 minutes away from home while working and commuting. Could you ‘hold it’ for that long? Of course not! Your pet can’t either, especially young or aging pets.
  • Unlike middle-aged pets, young and aging pets are not as proficient at controlling their bladders for prolonged periods. Once again, pet doors offer the freedom to go outside whenever nature calls, which means less ‘accidents’ inside your home.
  • It’s no secret, pets need to exercise to stay healthy. The problem is most pets do not get the proper amount of exercise they need daily, which can lead to obesity, muscle atrophy, etc. Pet doors offer a way to the outside where they can play and run to their heart’s content.
  • Access to the outdoors also provides access to sounds, smells, and sights that help to keep your pet alert and cognizant of his/her surroundings.
  • Do you have pets that scratch your doors to ‘alert’ you of their intent to go outside or come in? With a pet door, you will no longer have scratched doors.
  • Confined pets may exhibit certain undesirable tendencies such as biting furniture or chewing on the crank handles, shoes etc. simply because they are bored. With a pet door, access to the outdoors literally opens a whole new world of exciting opportunities and fun things to do.
